Questions
What families ask us
Short answers, grouped by when you'll need them.
Paying
Do you take my insurance?
It depends on your plan. Many dental plans have an orthodontic benefit with its own limit. Alyssa checks yours before the first visit, and the how fees work page lists the plan types we file with.
What if I don't have insurance?
You pay one fee for the treatment, written down before you start. Ask for a written estimate any time before treatment.
Do you take Medicaid or CHIP?
We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP. The owner replaces this answer with the practice's own.
Can I get a written estimate first?
Yes. You get one before any treatment, at the visit where the plan is explained.
First visit
What does the first visit include?
You meet the orthodontist, we look at your teeth and bite, X-rays are taken only if they are needed, and you leave with a written estimate.
When should my teen come in?
When you, your dentist or your teen notices crowding, gaps or a bite that looks off. The visit tells you whether to start or wait.
Does a parent have to come?
A parent or guardian comes to the first visit and signs for anyone under 18.
Can you book around school and sports?
Yes. We open before and after school on set days, and Eric moves a visit around a game when he can.
In treatment
Do braces hurt?
Soreness is common for a few days after the braces go on and after some adjustments. We tell you what helps.
What counts as an emergency?
A face that swells, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a tooth knocked out: call 911 or go to an emergency room. A loose bracket or poking wire is not an emergency; call us during office hours.
How do I change or cancel a visit?
Call or text the office. Tell Eric as early as you can and he finds another time.
Does anyone speak a language besides English?
Dr. Zepeda speaks Spanish and Dr. Xiong speaks Hmong. Ask the front desk about booking with them.
