Three treatments
Pick a tab to see what each one asks of a school week. Dr. Xiong or Dr. Zepeda recommends one at the exam.

Brackets and wires that stay on until the orthodontist takes them off. Bands come in colors, and you can change yours at each visit.

Questions, by treatment
Each treatment has its own questions. Choose the tab that matches yours.
It depends on the case. The orthodontist gives you a range at the exam, and checks it at adjustment visits.
Usually, yes. Wear a mouthguard made for braces and ask us which kind. If a hit to the mouth loosens or knocks out a tooth, call 911 or go to an emergency room.
Call us during office hours. A bit of orthodontic wax over the spot helps until your visit.
Most of the day. The orthodontist tells you the schedule for your case, and aligners only work while they are in.
Not always. Some bites call for braces. We tell you which fits yours, and why.
Call us. Do not skip ahead on your own; we tell you whether to go back a tray or order a new one.
The orthodontist sets a schedule when treatment ends, then changes it at check-ins. Teeth can shift if a retainer is left out.
A removable retainer comes out for meals and sports, and goes in its case, never a napkin or a pocket.
Call us the same day you notice. Replacements are billed on their own; ask the front desk what yours will be.
The first months
The same four steps, whichever treatment you choose.
A parent or guardian comes along for anyone under 18. You meet the orthodontist, we look at your teeth and bite, and X-rays are taken only if they are needed.
The orthodontist explains the options, a range for how long treatment takes, and what happens if you wait. You get a written estimate before anything starts.
Adjustment visits are booked after school or before it. Tell Eric your sports season and he plans around it.
When treatment ends, you are fitted for retainers that hold your teeth in place. We check in on them after.
School year and sports seasons
Fall practice, winter finals, spring tryouts: the schedule changes every few months, and so can your visit times.
Eric, our scheduling coordinator, books adjustments before and after school so you miss as little class as you can. If a game runs long or a tournament comes up, call and we'll move the visit.
